How to File a Regular Savings or MP2 Withdrawal Claim

8 min readUpdated August 21, 2026Rates reviewed August 9, 2026

The eligibility grounds, in full

This is the part most people only partially know, which causes real confusion — there isn’t one single rule for when you can withdraw. Regular Savings can generally be claimed under any of these. Check your actual contribution count and TAV first, since several grounds hinge on an exact contribution-count threshold:

Ground Requirement
Membership maturity 20 years of membership, 240 monthly contributions
Optional withdrawal 15 years (180 contributions), no gaps, no outstanding loans
Retirement Age 60 (optional) or 65 (mandatory)
Permanent departure Migrating abroad permanently
Health grounds Permanent total disability or critical illness, medically certified
Death Claimed by legal heirs

MP2 runs on a separate, simpler clock — a 5-year term from when the account was opened, independent of Regular Savings’ 20-year maturity timeline.

Outstanding obligations come out first

Before any claim is released, Pag-IBIG deducts outstanding obligations — unpaid short-term loans, housing loan arrears, penalties — from the proceeds. Several of the early-withdrawal grounds (optional withdrawal specifically) require having no outstanding loans at all just to qualify in the first place, not just as a deduction at payout.

Filing online through Virtual Pag-IBIG

Withdrawal claims that used to require an in-branch visit can now generally be filed online:

  1. Log in to Virtual Pag-IBIG and select Claim Pag-IBIG Savings.
  2. Choose your claim type — regular savings maturity, retirement, or optional withdrawal (MP2 withdrawal can also be filed from this same starting point).
  3. Review the requirements shown for your specific claim type, then proceed.
  4. Enter your 12-digit MID and validate.
  5. Upload your scanned supporting documents matching your claim ground.
  6. Submit and wait for the system to accept your application.

If your claim still requires a branch visit

Some claim types or edge cases may still route through a branch, particularly for check pickup. Where that applies: bring at least two valid IDs, and expect a text notification once your check is ready — you’ll return to the branch a second time to actually claim it.

What happens if you let MP2 sit past maturity

Letting a matured MP2 account sit unclaimed isn’t free — it isn’t lost, but it also generally stops earning at MP2’s rate. See the MP2 maturity guide for the full picture on this — briefly: unclaimed matured MP2 savings continue earning at the Regular Savings rate for a limited additional window (commonly cited as around two more years) before dividends stop entirely. If you’re not planning to withdraw right at maturity, it’s worth deciding deliberately — reinvest into a fresh MP2 term to keep compounding at MP2’s typically higher rate, rather than letting it default into a lower-yield holding pattern by inaction.

A practical note on timing

Given that release can take real time — commonly reported as one to a few months for check processing — claiming right when you first become eligible, rather than waiting until you urgently need the funds, avoids a mismatch between when you filed and when the money actually arrives.

Frequently asked questions

When can I claim my Regular Savings?

The standard route is membership maturity — 20 years of membership with at least 240 monthly contributions. Several other grounds exist too: optional withdrawal after 15 years (180 contributions) without any gaps, retirement at 60 (optional) or 65 (mandatory), permanent departure from the Philippines, permanent total disability or critical illness, and death (claimed by legal heirs).

Can I withdraw early if I've only contributed for a few years?

Generally no, outside the specific early-withdrawal grounds above — and those grounds (like the 15-year optional withdrawal) still require a long, continuous, gap-free contribution history. Regular Savings isn't designed for short-term access; MP2's shorter 5-year term or the MPL/Calamity Loan programs are the more realistic options if you need funds sooner.

Does an outstanding loan affect my withdrawal?

Yes — Pag-IBIG deducts any outstanding obligations (unpaid short-term loans, housing loan arrears, penalties) from your claim before releasing the net proceeds. Several early-withdrawal grounds specifically require no outstanding loans at all as a qualifying condition.

Can I file a withdrawal claim online now?

Yes — Virtual Pag-IBIG supports online filing for Regular Savings and MP2 withdrawal claims, which used to require an in-branch visit. You'll still need to upload scanned supporting documents matching your specific claim ground.

What happens to my MP2 if I don't withdraw at maturity?

If you don't claim within the maturity period, your MP2 savings generally continue earning dividends at the Regular Savings rate for a limited additional window — commonly cited as around two more years — after which they stop earning dividends and should be claimed.

How long does it take to actually receive the money?

Timelines vary, but claims are commonly processed and released as a check, with total turnaround sometimes taking one to a few months depending on the Fund's processing volume and how complete your submitted documents are.

Next steps

  • Check your current TAV and contribution count before assuming you qualify — the exact contribution-count thresholds matter.
  • If you're nearing maturity on either program, decide in advance whether to withdraw and reinvest into a new MP2 term, or let a mature MP2 balance sit (and eventually stop earning dividends).
  • Gather supporting documents for your specific claim ground before starting the online filing, since incomplete uploads are the most common cause of delay.
